Name: Blair Willows

Age: 15

House: Hufflepuff

Birthday: February 18th

Height / Weight: 162.56 cm / 61 Kg

Blood Status: Muggle-Born

Pet: Houdini {Common Rat}
                       > Escape-Artist Extraordanaire | Prudent | Finicky | Independant
-Though the Willows family has acquired several pets throughout the years (including two dogs, three hamsters, and a series of goldfish), Houdini was the first pet that ever truly belonged to Blair. Having purchased him in Diagon Alley, he was her first step in easing into the magical world, and has remained her source of comfort in difficult times. Though originally named Chester, he was affectionately dubbed "Houdini" by Blair's younger siblings after managing to break out of his cage during his first night. After numerous attempts to keep him contained failed, Blair finally gave up and decided to let him wander as he pleased. He has a habit of disappearing for hours on end (and sneaking into the kitchen for a quick bite), but he can always be found curled up in her pocket after dinner. He is usually mild-mannered, however, years of being poked and prodded by little children have made him wary to being held by anyone other than Blair.

                       > Hawthorne | Unicorn Hair | 9 1/4" | Springy

Spell List:

                       >Siphoning Spell - Tergeo
-Used to draw material such as liquids or dust off of a surface. Often used for cleaning wounds.

                       >Ferula - Ferula
-A simple medical spell, which bandages and splints a broken limb.

                       >Repairing Charm - Reparo
-Causes a broken object to piece itself back together. In the case of containers, this will not replace anything that was held within. Wands, and most other magical items, can not be repaired in this manner.

                       >Episkey - Episkey
-A simple healing charm, capable of restoring minor injuries. More serious afflictions require greater magic.

                       >Disarming Charm - Expelliarmus
-Causes the target's wand to fly from their hand. With sufficient power behind it, a Disarming Charm may throw a victim back forcefully. Disarming Charms are mutually off-setting - when cast against eachother, they generally deflect. The Disarming Charm is also an effective counter to many spells.

                       >Shielding Charm - Protego, Dunbihu, or K'irara
-Creates a shield from the caster's wand which deflects jinxes, hexes, and curses. The strength of this spell is directly connected to the skill and talent of the wizard, and stronger versions can protect against very advanced curses - or even reflect failed jinxes back against the attacker. Other advanced uses of the spell include protecting an area from outside harm (Protego Totalum); there are as many advanced variations as there are wizards to think them up.

Extra Curricular / Elective Classes:

                        >Arithmancy | Magical Theory | Studies of Ancient Runes

                      + > Idealistic | Humanitarian | Compassionate | Loyal | Dutiful | Humble | Charitable

                       - > Soft-Spoken | Timid | Evasive | Meek | Guilty | Aloof | Stubborn | Reluctant to Change

                               - More 'mouse' than 'badger', Blair has always been a shy and timid girl; as the middle child in a family of seven, this doesn't come as much of a surprise. In a large family such as hers, it was always easiest to let others talk over her while she minded her own business, complacent in her own silent ways. However, as time went by it became clear that, after years of silencing herself, when it was finally her time to speak for herself, she had nothing to say. Though she was passionate about many things, she could never seem to find the words to express herself, and often times the things that came out of her mouth were clumsy and awkward.
                               - Embarassed, she decided that it was best for her to remain a soft-spoken individual to prevent any further gaffes. This, however, tended to give the impression to others that she was rather aloof and detached, and, with little to no friends to speak of, this became true for her. As she grew up, however, Blair became more interested in social issues, and began to dedicate her time to helping those in need. Though relatively passive on most subjects, her newfound interests had given her some semblance of a back bone. Over time, she proved to be quite stubborn on important matters, such as: peace over violence, people's rights, and helping the poor. As she worked to reach out to the less fortunate, her idealistic and compassionate nature began to shine through her otherwise meek and reclusive persona.
                               - She is a generally private person, and dislikes to be in the spotlight. Even talking to some people one on one can cause her to get flustered, especially if it's a teacher or someone above her in age or rank. Often times, her humble disposition causes her to let others take credit for her achievements, as she has a hard time accepting praise or gifts without feeling guilty. While she has learned to be more sociable, and people tend to find her kind and considerate nature endearing, Blair usually has only a handful of friends, or people that she truly trusts (outside of her family). This is not to say that she dislikes crowds- in fact, she is quite comfortable in crowds, so long as the focus isn't on her- only that she finds it difficult to reach out and make strong friendships; it's usually easier to be kind from far away than to become emotionally attached with someone. Because of this, she is much closer to her family, whom she considers to be the most important people in her life.
                               - Overall, Blair is a kind and caring person, who sees it as her duty to help anyone in need. When it comes to her passions, she is incredibly hard-working and determined; and for her family and the few people she cares for, there is almost nothing she wouldn't do for them. Unfortunately, this side of her is often overlooked by others, who tend to have a hard time looking past her timid and frightened visage. While she can seem detached and independant, she truly cares for the wellbeing of other people, no matter who they are.

                               - As the third child born to Kenneth and Barbara Willows, there wasn't much of an opportunity for Blair to stand out. She wasn't the smartest or the prettiest child in her family, nor did she have a strong personality that warranted any attention in the first place. And, though she was loved by her family in general, she would often fade into the background during family reunions or holiday parties. While most people would find this exasperating- to be overlooked all the time- Blair didn't mind in the slightest; she actually found comfort in her seclusion. Years of letting her family talk over her resulted in her growing up to be a mild-mannered and soft-spoken, albeit lonely and detached, individual. When she started school, her silence often lead people to think that she was dumb, or was otherwise unapproachable. This further secluded her from people, and she often played by herself during school.
                               - With a small social life outside of home, Blair's main focus in primary school was, surprisingly, school work. Though not the most intelligent child by any stretch of the imagination, a strong work ethic and a knack for numbers made her a favorite amongst her teachers. After some suggestions from her teachers, she began to branch her interests out into social sciences, like economics, politics, and anthropology. Through this, she began to learn about modern-day issues, such as world-hunger, homelessness, and lack of education in developing nations. Idealistic in her passions, she sought to help in anyway she could by volunteering in soup kitchens to helping with canned food drives at her school. This lead to her making new friends with others who shared her humanitarian views, and thus inspired her to finally break out of her shell. With her new friends, and decent grades, by the end of Primary School, Blair's life was finally become normal, much to her parents' gratification.
                               - When the letter first arrived, Blair's parents wrote it off as a practical joke, albeit an elaborate one. After all, who had ever heard of such a thing like Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry? The family took it in good humor though, and simply chose to ignore it. After the fifth letter arrived, however, the novelty had worn off, and the joke didnt seem quite so funny. Blair became uneasy with the sudden attention, as her parents and her brothers wanted to know why she was recieving these letters. Of course she didn't know, and the fixation on her had her nervous and flustered to the extreme. That summer was a strenous one for her, and she spent a lot of the time burning the letters after they appeared, which became increasingly difficult when she realized that there was literally no end to them. Everyday, without fail, a new letter would be on their front porch, waiting for her. After the first month, her parents sought out to contact the police, but they couldn't seem to find the source of the letters either. It wasn't until the beginning of the second month, that they were finally given an answer, in the form of a strange man knocking on their door.
                               - Dressed in black from head to toe, the man instantly had the family suspicious, and when he introduced himself as a teacher at the aforementioned Hogwarts, school of witchcraft and wizardry, who had brought her a letter in person to make sure she had actually recieved it- their suspicions were confirmed. Though her parents threatened to call the police, the teacher finally convinced them to let him inside after pulling out his wand and- discreetly- making their dining room table hover a good five feet in the air. That evening, her family listened- half in awe, half in doubt- as they were given the confirmation that, yes, magic was real, and yes, Blair was, in fact, a witch. Though the news was nothing short of some kind of miracle to her parents and her older brothers, Blair had a hard time grasping why she, of all people, had been given this gift. She was reluctant to go along- after all, she had just started making some new friends, and she was only few months away from starting secondary school- but her family assured her that this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that couldn't be ignored. So after an hour of deep thought and inner debate, Blair finally agreed to let him accompany her to Diagon Alley to pick up her school supplies.
                               - Now equipped with everything needed for school, Blair was escorted to King's Cross Station, platform 9 & 3/4, by her family and a letter from the teacher explaining how to get past the barrier on the 1st of September, 2010. Only her immediate family knew the truth about her abilities; the only explanation that was given to the rest of her family was that Blair had been sent to a private school for gifted children. Her first year was, as predicted, incredibly difficult. Adjusting from muggle life to the wizarding world would be hard for any muggle-born student, but her reluctance to actually perform magic had her at an extreme disadvantage. Though she was trying to enjoy this new and exciting world, she had a hard time believing that she actually deserved to be there. This was a privelege that no one else in her family would be able to enjoy, and she felt it had been wasted on her, especially when the magic that she did perform often came out inconsistently; sometimes hardly anything would happen, sometimes when she'd try to turn Houdini into a goblet, he'd transform into a miniature chest. She found it easier to stick to subjects that were less magic-oriented, like Potions, Herbology, and History of Magic. This helped her squeak by her first year with relatively passing grades, though they were nothing like what she used to get at her muggle school.
                               - When Blair explained to her parents the guilt she felt about being a witch, they assured her that there was no need for her to feel guilty, as this was her journey, and she ought to just relax and enjoy herself while she was there. With this confirmation, her next year at Hogwarts was relatively more enjoyable. Though it was difficult for her to just stop feeling guilty, she eventually eased into the wizarding world and learned to (slowly) embrace its charms. She started taking tutoring lessons in order to try and catch up with the other kids in her grades and, while she still is far from the best, and her magic still fluxuates from time to time, she has finally started to prove herself a somewhat competent witch.

                        >Blair's goal in life is to become a muggle doctor, as she finds it unfair that witches and wizards get such better treatment, simply because they are allowed to use magic.
                        >Her favorite subject is Arithmancy, as it combines her skill in math and her newfound magical abilities.
                        >She used to take Muggle Studies for an easy A. As she became more comfortable with using magic, she eventually dropped it in favor of more challenging courses.
                        >The closest magical relative she has is her maternal great-great-grandmother, Elinor Mackinnon, who was a squib. The magic in their bloodline was thought to have died out a while ago.
                        >Most of Blair's good grades are given to her because she is a hard worker, not because she's all that intelligent. She has a knack for numbers, but this pretty much the extent of her academic intelligence.
                        >Though unable to produce the Patronus Charm currently, her Patronus will be a mouse.
